BEHIND THE SCENES: LOOT LOVE X KRONE X NIGHT NECTAR BLANC

BEHIND THE SCENES:

LOOT LOVE x KRONE x

NIGHT NECTAR BLANC

Earlier this year Krone partnered with radio personality, Luthando Shosha to bring the story of the new Night Nectar Blanc De Blancs 2018 to life. As the face and ambassador of the launch campaign, Luthando Shosha has been intimately involved in various elements surrounding its release. Luthando has been a long-time friend of the Krone brand and was an obvious fit for the partnership. We check in with her and ask her some behind the scenes questions.

“There are so many more firsts we will uncover on our continent so long as we stay true to who we are. ”

Tell us a bit about your friendship with Krone over the years, and the significance of this collaboration for you?

This has been one of the most rewarding brand collaborations and relationships I’ve had the honour of experiencing. I think my favourite thing about Krone is how in-tune they are with my life and how important family and authenticity is for me. It reflects so beautifully in how they present projects and campaigns. They have been a part of some of my biggest and most personal moments.

Krone, you have really worked your way into my heart.

How was your experience of wearing the four South African designers’ pieces?

I absolutely loved it. I pride myself in supporting local talent, so any opportunity that gives me the chance to do so, I’ll take it! We have immense talent in South Africa and to be a canvas for that is rewarding.

Your identity is so poignantly expressed through your aesthetic. Can you tell us a little bit about the experience of moving between the different looks and sets that Louw Kotze put together during the shoot?

I’m always ready to push boundaries and try something new when it comes to fashion. Each look has its own personality and it helped me channel different parts of myself, which brought about a new mood. The conversations leading up to the shoot were so important, as they helped to express my ideas and thoughts, which were beautifully executed. I also got to represent my culture in such a stunning modern way. That’s so powerful.

The launch of the Krone Night Nectar Blanc De Blancs 2018 coincided with your birthday this year. Can you tell us a little bit about the launch event in Tulbagh?

To be honest the whole trip was a beautiful journey. This year I turned 33 and it’s a big year for me. I loved Krone’s incredible attention to detail. Krone has really opened up my world. I had my closest friends with me; and it felt like a turning point in my life. It didn’t feel like a launch. The lunch, the cake, the jet…it was all so magical. The villa? Phew. I cried so much the next day because I was so grateful for that one-of-a-kind experience. I was definitely also the talk of the town.

With Night Nectar Blanc being the first of its kind in Africa, this allowed for a great amount of creative freedom. What is the significance of intuition for you?

Following my intuition is my first instinct. Creative ideas are really gifts that are there to help you grow. Following through is important. It’s also always beautiful when you are given the room to express yourself in a way that serves you, because at the end of the day this is your story. No one can ever tell it the way you do. There are so many more firsts we will uncover on our continent so long as we stay true to who we are.

The shoot evoked a sense of consciousness around multiple levels of time. What does this mean to you?

That time is infinite, that past, present and the future exist at the same time. They work hand-in-hand. I must also say that being a mom has really shifted my understanding of being present.

Night Nectar Blanc is an expression of the 2018 harvest, its making represents connection to the rhythms of nature. Being part of the highly digital world we all live in, how do you connect back to your inner spirit to recharge and reset?

I have learned to live a beautiful life offline, in fact I may have gone a little too far from the Internet! I have hours in the day where I don’t engage on social media. I’ve also deactivated apps like Twitter, which really affected my mental health.

What does the word ‘strength’ mean to you?

Vulnerability. That is strength to me.

Designer: Lukhanyo Mdingi

Who are some inspiring, strong women you admire?

Right now I really want to say Power Up and Love to the single moms. The sacrifices are endless and you are the real superheroes of this world.

How would you describe the experience of drinking Night Nectar Blanc?

It’s like if the pot of gold found at the end of the rainbow was actually liquid.
